Dr Malinga, born Goodwill Malinga in Themba, Hammanskraal, South Africa, is a celebrated singer, record producer, dancer, and entertainer known for his high-energy performances and distinctive stage presence. He rose to prominence in South Africa’s music industry through a unique blend of kwaito, house, Afropop, and gospel-influenced sounds, supported by vibrant choreography and his trademark high-kick dance style.
Coming from humble beginnings, Dr Malinga initially worked various small jobs before pursuing music professionally. His breakthrough came through participation in talent competitions, including winning recognition on the show 'Voice of Choice,' which helped launch his career. He gained widespread attention with the hit single “Casanova,” which established him as a rising force in South African dance music.
In 2014, he released his debut album "First Injection," which further cemented his reputation and earned him a South African Music Award (SAMA) for Best Kwaito Album. Over the years, he has released several popular tracks, including "Akulaleki," "Sengizwile," and "Thandaza," and has collaborated with major South African artists such as DJ Shimza and Master KG.
